Eleven hundred and forty interventions. Not one of them wrong.
In the safest city in the world the police arrive before the crime, and Dr Aris Thorne is the woman who certified that this is ethical.
Then AEGIS files a prediction she cannot fault and cannot believe: fourteen facts about an ordinary man, every one of them true, every one of them harmless, adding up to ninety four per cent certainty of violence within seventy two hours.
There is no error in it. There is nothing to find.
Which leaves Aris with the only question worth asking, and the only one the system was built to make unaskable: what if it is not predicting anything?
